Update and Donor Drive

Wow! What a busy and blessed week this was. We all just got back from DC where Cliff Jr. just graduated from Georgetown Law School. We had a great time in the Nations Capital. On Tuesday Sara went to the Doctor and got some Great News! Her white counts went from 14,000 to 9,000 Praise God!Prayer works! What this means is that this new medication is doing what it is suppose to and bring her counts down. Please pray that this medication continues to work. They are still in the process of finding a donor for Sara. On May 28th from 12-7 we are having a donor drive for Sara. It will be at our office Fort Worth Electric which is located at 9505 Santa Paula in Fort Worth. I have been asked many questions about becoming a donor. Here is the short version if you want to research it more thoroughly go the website www.marrow.org . To be place in the national registry it is real easy all you have to do is to come to the donation drive and fill out a form, and then they swab your cheek. After your information is taken it takes about 4-6 weeks for your DNA to be put in the registry. If you are a possible match for someone then you have blood work done to determine if you are the best match. If you are the best match this is when you become a donor. When you donate bone marrow they do it one of two ways, they can take the marrow which is a liquid out of your hip bone and that is the purist form. In doing this they put you to sleep and draw the marrow out it only take a small amount and is simple procedure for the donor. Afterwards you are a little sore. Or they can take it through blood donation and separate the marrow from the blood. The way they withdraw the marrow is determined by the doctors. If you have any questions please call me 817-793-1146. Sara really wants to encourage everyone to be placed in the registry, DNA is very hard to match it does not go by blood type so it is not as easy to match as blood is so the more people that can join the registry the better chance people like Sara have at finding a match. This is a way to save a life while you are still alive.
Sara will be at the Donor Drive the whole time so come out and PLEASE let’s get the word out to all your friends and family about the donor drive.
May God Bless You,
Sherri

Bone Marrow Drive For Sara

The date in Fort Worth is set. May 28th from 12-7 at our office.
Fort Worth Electric 9505 Santa Paula, FW TX 76116
Here are some details. Bone Marrow Drives are a little different than blood drives. One, to get in the registry they only swab your cheek it only takes about 10-15 min. the paperwork takes the longest time. Second the cost to get in the national registry is 52.00 per person. But they have some funding available so all I have to do is to collect donations. So If you can't pay to get in the registry don't let that stop you I will work diligently to get donations. My goal is to get at least 100 donors. If you are able to give a donation nothing is too small or too big. I will be sending more info out soon. If you have any questions please call me on my cell 817-793-1146 or e-mail me at sherriaaron3@yahoo.com
I am also working with Shea Ratliff, Sara’s nephew to do a donor drive in Abilene possibly the first week in June. I will let you know as soon as I get the details worked out.
And PLEASE keep Sara and her family in your daily prayers.
Many blessings,
Sherri Aaron

Dr's Apt May 18th

Sara went to the Doctor yesterday and none of the siblings were a match, so they went to the national registry to try to find a match. In the registry there are about 24 possible matches. The process now is the registry will contact those people to see if they will be a donor and then they will do more extensive testing to see if they are the best match for Sara. I am in the process of organizing a marrow donor drive for Sara, I don’t have a date yet but I am shooting for the week of the 25th, possibly the 28th. I have already been in contact with the national registry and we are just working out the date and location. Her new meds seem to be working and her white blood cell count went down a little so keep praying that it will continue to bring the count down. Sara is feeling good and she feels blessed to be able to share Jesus with people that she would normally not be with. She has so many stories about people that she has been in contact with and got to talk to while waiting in the Dr’s offices. She knows that God has a plan for her and she is trusting in Him 110%..Please pray for all the family as we all travel to Washington DC for Cliff’s graduation...I will be posting more info soon, just wanted to let you know the status of the Dr’s Apt. yesterday.

Greetings..
Sara and I talked today and we talked a lot about Boldness! She has really inspired me to be BOLD about telling people about Jesus. A couple of things you should know, she went to the doctor today and her white blood cell count is still up but she has only been on the new medication for 5 days. So keep praying that this med will bring the levels down so that she will be able to receive the transplant. She will be going to the Doctors at UT Southwestern on Monday May 11th so we should have an update then on how quickly everything will proceed.
In talking with Sara she would like specific prayer for travel this weekend, Ben is graduating from ACU and the whole family will be there she just wants to have a wonderful weekend with family and a blessed mothers day. On Tue the 12th of May the whole family, Tracy and I will be flying to Washington DC for Cliff Jr. Graduation from Georgetown Law School. Please pray that she will be fine to travel and that everything will go as planned.
God has blessed me in so many ways but one of my blessings is that I have had a great mentor and sister in Christ "Sara". She seeks God everyday, listens to him speak and uses his words to encourage others. These are the words that she wanted me to share with you, "God made me a strong woman and when I demonstrate his strength though the power of His Holy Spirit I feel his pleasure. I feel honored, privileged and driven to share Jesus with people through this season."She wants you to know that she feels your prayers and she is thankful for your prayers.
I want to thank you for your comments, I read them to her and they bring her great comfort knowing that so many people are praying for her.
Many blessings to you and may you bring many blessings to others, that is why we are on this earth, to bless and serve God's people.

Hello fellow friends that Love Sara and her family.

As many of you know Sara has leukemia and she is now not responding to her medication, they have changed her meds in order to prepare her for a bone marrow transplant. All her siblings have been tested and we are waiting for the results. We should have the results by next Monday to determine which sibling will be a match. When the meds bring her white blood cell count down they will proceed with the transplant. Which could be in 4-6 weeks. Sara will be staying in Fort Worth and traveling to Dallas for treatment. As treatment progresses I will be asking for help when needed. This blog site exists to give specific prayer needs and to exchange info so that Sara and her family don't get inundated with calls, hopefully, every one will respect that. Sara needs her time to concentrate on her healing. The next year is going to be a rough one but God will see Sara and her family through it. Please join us in lifting up Sara and her family in prayer daily. If you would like to send cards or letters to Sara please e-mail me and I will get you her address, or if you have any questions please call me or e-mail me. sherriaaron3@yahoo.com

Blessings,

Sherri Aaron
